it matters not whether it was an honest mistake,which is certainly suspect since it occured when the TIP was entered in.that happens after you leave,the server will add tip into cc machine usually when not real busy,or at end of shift.i have seen this done accidentally AND intentionally.but regardless it was THEIRE mistake.and you have been inconvenienced and a bit offended that this would happen to a good customer like you.explain to General Mgr(only speak to the top boss) that you want to be assured in the future that you can trust that your dining experience be better in the future,or you will choose to take your hard earned money to another establishment.

i would deffinately invite a refund or gift card you wont be being rude in the least... they understand the error and that its your money. merely tell something like & im not one to quetch, but i was soaked and was inquiring if i could get it back by inviting a gift card or the sum back in cash, whichever would be convenient foryou. & equally long as your polite they will likelily be more so willing to give you back what they owe.

A okay eatery maked that to us once, my husband kicked BITTERLY, and the director gave him a subscribed concern card where a & comp & meal with Bubbly would be given us whenever we desired it.
